Turkey Patty Melt with Garlic Sweet Potatoes

If you’re looking for a warm, filling dinner and a healthy side then you have come to the right place. These turkey patty melts are delicious and will be requested by guests at future dinners. Trust me. I think they might possibly be my boyfriend’s favorite dinner item. The garlic sweet potatoes on the side act as the perfect compliment to the cheesy, toasty patty melt. Some even spice the patty melt up a little by adding a fried egg on top! Whichever way you make it, enjoy the warm turkey patty with friends or loved ones and enjoy the night.



  • 1 lb ground 93% lean turkey
  • 1 tbsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 1 cup sliced white onion
  • 1 cup clean and sliced mushrooms
  • 6 slices of rye bread
  • 3 slices colby jack cheese
  • 3 slices provolone cheese
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • black pepper
  • mustard
  • butter for toasting bread

Sweet Potato- IMG_2205

  • 2 medium sized sweet potatoes
  • 1 tbsp garlic powder
  • parmesan cheese sprinkled on top
  • olive oil


  1. Caramelize mushrooms ands onions in olive oil, set aside
  2. Mix garlic powder, pepper, paprika, and onion powder into turkey meat
  3. Shape turkey meat into three patties to fit the bread slices
  4. Brown turkey patties in a sauce pan preheated to medium high, approximately 4 minutes on each sideIMG_2203
  5. Set turkey patties aside
  6. Heat griddle to medium high and lightly butter one side of each piece of bread
  7. Place three slices butter side down on the griddle, place mustard on each slice
  8. Place a turkey patty on top of each mustard covered bread
  9. Distribute mushroom and onion mixture evenly to each patty and place one colby jack slice and one provolone slice on each burger
  10. Finish with a buttered piece of bread
  11. Turn once on griddle until toasted on both sides
  12. Slice sandwiches in half and serve warm
  13. Clean two sweet potatoes and slice into 1 inch thick slices
  14. Drizzle sweet potato with olive oil, 2 tbsp of garlic, and pepper. Stir until evenly coated
  15. Bake at 425º for 12 minutes, remove from oven and turn potatoes over
  16. Top potatoes with parmesan cheese and bake for 8 more minutes IMG_2211
  17. Serve warm with burger!
